POR-15® Top Coat – Direct-to-Metal Rust Preventive Paint

POR-15® Top Coat is a Direct-to-Metal (DTM) coating engineered to provide outstanding protection for metal and other substrates vulnerable to corrosion. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, it delivers exceptional long-term gloss and colour retention, even under prolonged exposure to sunlight and harsh weather conditions.

This advanced formulation can be applied directly to metal without the need for a primer or undercoat, forming a tough, moisture-shedding barrier that delivers long-lasting protection. When applied over POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, it creates a complete system that offers permanent corrosion resistance.

POR-15 Top Coat features excellent adhesion and is formulated to resist cracking, chipping, and peeling, ensuring a durable, attractive finish that lasts.

Application Guidelines

• Apply in thin, even coats
• Recommended coverage per coat: ~1.5 mils WFT
• Total recommended film thickness:
  • 2–2.5 mils WFT
  • 1.5–2 mils DFT (after cure)

Recoating

• Allow 2–4 hours between coats
• Apply next coat when the first coat is dry to the touch but still tacky
• If the recoat window is missed and the surface becomes hard and slick, lightly scuff with 320-grit sandpaper before recoating

⚠️ Applying the coating too heavily may cause runs, sags, or off-gassing bubbles during curing. Thin coats are strongly recommended.
